Jalandhar(18/01/2026): DAV College Jalandhar along with Sarv Sukh Sewa Mission celebrated the Lohri Dhiyan di with great fervor and enthusiasm on January 17th 2026. The function was organized to mark the occasion, highlighting the importance of daughters in our society.
The event featured the talented noted singers Ashu Shahkoti, Janta Toor and Barinder Dhapal. The event was a spectacular display of music, with the singers enthralling the audience with their captivating performances. The evening featured a diverse range of songs, including popular Punjabi tracks, which had the audience swaying to the rhythm and singing along to the tunes. Ashu shahkoti, Janta Toor and Barinder Dhapal's harmonious voices and energetic stage presence kept the crowd engaged and entertained throughout the event. The audience was thoroughly impressed by their versatility and talent, and the evening was marked by thunderous applause and requests for encores.
The program was anchored by famous actress and anchor Ms Tammana. Her exceptional anchoring skills left the audience mesmerized, making the event truly unforgettable. She effortlessly navigated through the program, showcasing her impressive hosting skills and winning hearts with her wit and charm. Her interactions with the audience and guests were seamless, keeping everyone engaged and entertained throughout the event.
Sh Arvind Sharma from Sarv Sukh Sewa Mission while addressing the audience told about mission of his organization. He informed that is celebrating “Lohri Dhiyan di” since last 12-13 years to create awareness and stop evil practice of female infanticide from society and to create equal opportunities and rights for girls in the society.
Sh Jasvir Singh Ghari — Chairman, SC Commission, Punjab was chief guest of the function. In his address He said” Let's break stereotypes and build a society where girls and boys have equal opportunities to shine! Let's empower our daughters, sisters, and future generations to chase their dreams and reach their full potential.”

The celebration was a grand success, with students and faculty members alike enjoying the festivities and acknowledging the importance of daughters in our society. Twenty girl students from DAV College were honoured with appreciation award for their excellence in various fields of education, sports and extra-curricular activities. Dr Anoop Kumar (Princial), Dr Kunwar Rajeev (Senior Vice Principal), Prof Sonika Dania (Vice Principal), Prof Manish Khanna (Deputy Registrar), Prof Pankaj Gupta (PRO) and Dr Ekjot Kaur (Dean EMA)from DAV College were honoured for their contribution to the field of education.
The event was attended by Prof Ashok Kapoor (Registrar), Dr Puneet Puri (Staff Secretary), Dr Rishi Jagota (Joint Staff Secretary), Dr Manu Sood (Bursar), Prof Sharad Manocha, various heads of the departments , faculty members and students who came together to celebrate the joyous occasion.
