most important story: in story of so called journalist gurdeep singh, misuse of freedom of press to abuse of process law.. shocking track record also..

Jalandhar (29/04/2026):Friends, today we have brought before you the story of a so-called journalist. There are lakhs of such digital journalists roaming in every city of the country. These people may not have much influence, but because of them, journalism has had to face a lot of embarrassment. It is necessary to talk about them because they are causing significant damage to the fourth pillar of democracy.

In the city of Jalandhar, Punjab, there is a man named Gurdeep Singh, who runs a Facebook page called Yuva Savera. He is often involved in controversies. A few years ago, he was accused of attempting extortion at a lottery stall in Phagwara (near Jalandhar). At that time, people from the market caught him and he faced public humiliation.
If the matter had ended there, it would have been fine, but some time ago, a neighboring family accused him of assaulting a woman and pelting stones at their house. His actions do not stop here—back in 2020, he allegedly shot a man in the leg in Jalandhar. Following that incident, this so-called journalist spent more than six months in jail.
Now, in 2026, the owner of a private gas agency in Jalandhar, Doaba Gas Agency, named Hitesh Chander, has filed a case against him, accusing him of blackmail and demanding Rs.2 lakh, along with using caste-based abusive language. In this case, Gurdeep Singh is currently absconding, and the police claim they will arrest him soon, although his whereabouts are unknown.

Let’s discuss these incidents in more detail.
There is a YouTube video uploaded around two years ago (links provided) where people from a Phagwara market surrounded Gurdeep Singh and accused him of trying to extort money from a lottery stall owner. He was allegedly caught red-handed but managed to escape by apologizing.

2020 Shooting Incident: On 08/01/2020 at around 11:15 AM, a man named Prahlad had an argument with his wife. She left angrily for her parental home, and Prahlad followed her to calm her down. During their argument on the way, Gurdeep Singh allegedly intervened and fired a shot, which hit Prahlad in the leg.
In this case, Jalandhar Police registered an FIR against Gurdeep Singh under IPC Section 307 and Sections 25 & 27 of the Arms Act. He was arrested and remained in jail for more than six months before getting bail.
However, a surprising twist emerged—during the trial, Prahlad and his wife stated in court that they had never seen Gurdeep Singh before and that someone else had fired the shot. Based on lack of evidence, the court acquitted Gurdeep Singh.
Questions remain unanswered: No mention of the forensic report of the bullet or weapon, No details about who owned the gun, No clarity on who possessed the weapon at the time.
Additionally, during a High Court hearing, Gurdeep Singh’s lawyer advocate navkiran singh presented a compromise deed based on Prahlad’s affidavit. This raises questions about why the couple gave different statements in trial court and High Court, and why no action was taken against them.

2024 Case: In 2024, a neighboring family filed an FIR against Gurdeep Singh accusing him of assaulting a woman and damaging their property by stone-pelting. Police registered the case under IPC Sections 354, 509, 506, 294, 427, and 34. He was jailed but is currently out on bail. The police filed a chargesheet on 26/03/2025. The case is still pending in court, with the next hearing scheduled for 25/05/2026. Gurdeep Singh claims the case is false and filed due to personal enmity. The truth will be decided by the court.

2026 Case (Doaba Gas Agency): On 05/02/2026, Hitesh Chander filed a case under the Specific Relief Act (Section 40). Subsequently, on 06/04/2026, a criminal complaint was registered based on his statement.
Charges include:BNS Section 308(1) (extortion), BNS Section 332(c) (house trespass), SC/ST Act Section 3(1)
If it is proven that money was actually exchanged, the case against Gurdeep Singh may become stronger. If only a demand was made, the extortion charge may weaken. Questions also arise regarding the SC/ST Act charge—
Who was targeted with caste-based remarks?
How did Gurdeep Singh know the person’s caste?
A similar case was earlier filed against another journalist, Gaurav Goyal, who later received interim bail from the High Court.

Current Status:
Gurdeep Singh filed a bail application on 10/04/2026, which dismissed on 22/04/2026.
Another important question is whether he still possesses a licensed firearm. After the 2020 shooting case, it should be investigated whether he still has permission to keep a weapon.
