Latest Legal News: The anticipatory bail application of Gurdeep Singh, who claims to be a journalist, filed before the Punjab and Haryana High Court, is likely to be heard on 04/05/2026.

Jalandhar (02/05/2026): Readers are informed that a so-called digital journalist from Jalandhar, Gurdeep Singh, has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek anticipatory bail. On 01/05/2026, Gurdeep Singh filed this bail application through his lawyer, Navkiran Singh. The first hearing of this bail application will take place on 04/05/2026 in Court No. 68 of Honorable Justice Subhash Mehla. This is the first date of the case, and it has been listed as urgent.

It is further informed that, based on a complaint filed by Hitesh Chandra, the owner of a gas agency in Jalandhar city, the Jalandhar Police registered a case against this so-called digital journalist on 05/04/2026. The case has been filed under Section 308(1) of the BNS (extortion), Section 332-C of the BNS (criminal trespass), and also under Section 3-X of the SC/ST Act, which is applied for using caste-based derogatory words.

When Gurdeep Singh filed a bail application in the Jalandhar court, Judge Rajeev Kumar Berry stated that interim bail cannot be granted under this section of the SC/ST Act. On this basis, Gurdeep Singh’s bail application was rejected on 22/04/2026.
